A reflection on our kindergarten classroom.

Ready, Set, Read!

Hi Kinderkids!  Today while we were having recess, I was working on the computer right beside Abbigail.  Abbigail was working on the website that we always work on during literacy corners, Starfall.com.  Abbigail was laughing and having a great time playing on the computer!  She even made a magician that was dressed just like her…braided pigtails and all!  I was asking Abbigail if she played on that website at home and she said, “no.”  Then I thought to myself, maybe if I put some links on our blog for your parents, you could play some games on your computer at home!  If you click on the pictures below they will take you to a few websites that are so much fun.  After you visit some sites, you could leave us a comment and tell us which game is your favorite!

Mr. F has Funny Feet!

KinderKids, there is a new letter person visiting in our classroom.  His name is Mr. F.  Do you think you can make a list of some words that start with the same sound as Mr. F?  I bet you could surprise your parents by typing those words all by yourselves.  Remember to stretch each sound in the word you want to write and watch out for those tricky blends we’ve talked about!

Ideas Anyone?

Did you know that last year’s team of Kinderkids donated over 100 teddy bears to the Altoona Hospital’s Pediatric Unit?  We started collecting teddy bears at the beginning of February and by the end of the month we had 100 bears to donate.  Each teddy bear was labeled with a “Get Well Soon” tag from our classroom.  The hospital gave each child that had to sleep overnight a teddy bear to make their stay a little more comfortable.  Some of the patients even sent us thank you cards and pictures after they received one of our bears.

I thought that it would be a great idea for our team to do something for kids that need our help.  I just haven’t been able to decide what we should do.  So I need your help!  There are children everywhere that need help, can you and your family think of any way we could help them?  What would you like to collect and send to those in need?  Maybe your mom and dad could help you look for ideas on the internet, on the news, or even in the newspaper.  After we have all of our ideas posted on our blog, we will be able to vote on our favorite idea and put it into action!  I can’t wait to hear what all of the KinderKids have to say! I am sure that we will have so many great ideas!  Thanks for posting!!

Do you remember the day that Santa visited us at school?  I remember listening to the items on your lists.  I heard requests for all kinds of different toys and electronic gadgets.  I was hoping that Santa honored those requests when he visited your home on Christmas Eve!  I am dying to hear about what our team members received over the holidays, aren’t you? Please leave us a comment and let us know what Santa brought you, maybe you could even use your webcam to show us what he brought you!
